It is used as fluidizer and hole-sealing agent of aluminum-alloy.
It is used in the production of nickel metal, as a catalyst in organic synthesis, and as an electrolyte additive in rechargeable batteries. It also finds use in the preparation of nickel-containing materials, such as nickel fluoride-based ceramics and catalysts.
